The holidays are here, but where are you? Stuck somewhere between wanting to stay under the covers until January or running from party to party, shopping, eating and drinking a bit too much? Are you often amped up on sugar this time of year?

You might be able to do it all this holiday season (that includes saying no), and still feel good. A healthy attitude will help, along with a few nourishing products that will support your good intentions.

Here are six little helpers that can bring comfort and joy to you this holiday season:

  1. Practice mindfulness. It can take a just minute to calm down, regroup, and keep stress at bay. According to UCLA Mindfulness professor Diana Winston, just think STOP. This acronym is easy to remember and you can sprinkle it throughout your day, calming those difficult moments.

Here’s the practice:

S – stop, T– take a breath, O – observe the moment you’re in, P – proceed

  1. Keep an emergency snack on hand. It will boost your energy and keep you from eating something you really didn’t want.
  2. Don’t ignore your hands. Wrapping presents, stress and cold winter weather can dry out your hands and crack your cuticles. It’s not a comfortable way to navigate the holidays. You will feel much better holding that glass of wine or shaking hands with your new boss if your hands are soft and well groomed.
  3. Eat your greens. If you can’t always eat them during this hectic time, try drinking them.
  1. Relax in a healing, restorative bath. Taking time for yourself in a long, warm bath will help clear your mind and prioritize for the next day.
  1. Remember to be grateful. The holiday season is a good time to practice gratitude. According to UCLA’s Mindfulness Awareness Research Center, having an attitude of gratitude changes the molecular structure of the brain, keeps the gray matter functioning, and makes us healthier and happier. Take a few minutes, pause, and reflect on the gifts you’ve been given, the people you love and cherish, and the opportunities you are afforded in life.

May your holidays be merry and may you be jolly and peaceful. Enjoy a life filled with much for which to be grateful.
